The Fresh 20 Give-Away!

'Families are bombarded with “products” instead of educated about food.'

Meet Melissa Lanz, founder of The Fresh 20!

My story began with takeout ...

Or rather the high cost of not being prepared in the kitchen. It was tax time. I added up receipts. I was ashamed. Our busy, unorganized lifestyle had driven us to spend the cost of a brand new car on takeout food. It wasn’t my fault really. There are so many alternatives to cooking at home. If I could microwave it in 5 minutes, we ate it. If someone delivered it, we ate it. And yet, at the end of the year, my energy was low and my healthy living defenses were down. I did what all modern moms do. I went to the Internet well. There are millions of recipes available. There are dozens of meal planning services. I still could not find what I needed. Everyone wants a quick solution, but I just was not willing to serve mushroom soup casseroles or refrigerator dough to my growing family.

I wasn’t looking for fast and simple. I was looking for FRESH and simple.

The Fresh 20 is an alternative to food as products.

It’s about buying less and making more. It’s about loading your dinner table with delicious, preservative free food.

It’s about saving that takeout money for something more rewarding than takeout!

The Fresh 20 is a meal planning service. Our meal plans rely on simple, healthy and homemade dinners using just 20 fresh, seasonal ingredients per week. No more grocery lists with 80 items that will eventually go to waste. Our meal plans are carefully created to utilize everything on the list so you can stop throwing money down the drain. We don’t just grab 5 random recipes and call it a meal plan. The Fresh 20 mixes and matches a small list of ingredients to create 5 balanced dinners that play off each other.

We include detailed guides to meal prep, original recipes everyone will enjoy (even picky eaters) and motivation to help you stay the course on busy weeknights.

We can’t solve all your weeknight issues, but we are committed to getting the family dinner back on track.

Melissa sent me the same delicious meal plan that subscribers receive. It included a week's worth of recipes including sage butter salmon, stuffed mushrooms & red pepper penne ... yes, I am drooling as I type. I was sent a complete grocery list, recipes & the estimated cost of each meal. It had everything laid out in a very easy to read & orderly fashion.

I LOVE yummy food, easy recipes & order in my life. The Fresh 20 is a win-win-win for me (o:

One more thing that I love about The Fresh 20 - the recipes feature fresh ingredients, with just a few pantry staples like spices, sugar, or oil. Plus, your weekly fresh ingredients list is limited to 20, which makes shopping so easy!

Take a look at these ...

... are you drooling yet? These are just some of The Fresh 20 meals.

Hello there!! This sure would be an awesome help to me and my family. I am a working mother of a 19 m/o. My husband also works full-time. And, my 84 y/o MIL lives with us. I probably only cook dinner about 2 times during the week. Half the time, my hubby and and don't even eat dinner but I always make sure to feed the little one and grandma. We only have a couple of hours to spend time with my daughter, Madelyn, before she goes to bed so we try to make the most of it and I don't want to spend too much time in the kitchen. My problem is, I go to the grocery store, buy food and that half the time throw the fresh veggies away because I don't know what to make. Meats are always in the freezer but I'm kind of picky so I don't make special meals (just like them simple) and most of the time don't have a clue of what to make. Usually it's the same things when we do cook. If I don't win this entry, I will still subscribe because I need help and I want to make sure my family is fed well especially as my daughter gets older. I like the idea of planning and prepping the meals so it's easy to make and doesn't take long. Thanks so much!! Lisa

This would be a wonderful way for me to get my dinnertime back on track. My husband and I never felt like cooking for just two of us. Now my daughter is 10 months and she is eating our meals. I'm so anxious about what to make for her because I certainly don't want her to eat takeout!

I have 4 kids plus my husband and myself to cook for and I always feel overwhelmed by the "whats for dinner question"? I would love to try this plan. Sitting down together to eat as a family is so important to me. I think this service is a great idea! kelleecoates (at) hotmail (dot) com

I'm not sure where I'm supposed to tell you how the Fresh 20 would help me to enter the contest so I'm going to post here. I was just told that I need to go gluten-free. however, it's all new to me and quite overwhelming. The Fresh 20 gluten-free option would really help me get started on this new lifestyle quickly and easily while teaching me what I can and cannot eat. Then I can branch out on my own more comfortably. I have clicked to follow The Mommy Place, Life as a Supermom, and The Fresh 20 on Facebook. I will be retweeting and posting to Facebook next. Crossing my fingers! Samara samara_hope@comcast.net

Hi there--I'll make this short. I am a 36 year "young" mother who is about to give birth to our 5th child in April. I am a SAHM and I homeschool full time. I would LOVE to win this! Meal planning has always been a challenge for me. I'm capable of making lots of delicious things, but for some reason, combining recipes and devising a shopping list to get everything all at once seems impossible. The freshness factor is also really appealing. We've worked hard on transforming our diets, so to use this fresh meal plan -- SUPER! Thanks for the giveaway!!

I cant tell you how much Fresh 20 would help me without writting a book! This moms story is nearly MY story! I also came to the rather sickening realization that my family spent ungodly amounts of money on take out and fast foods. Ive actually started a blog that will track this year as my family strives to eat at home MUCH more and in the process save lots of money, get healthy and loose weight, and become closer as a family by having more meals together at the table! Fresh 20 wpould certainly help me reach my goals!

This meal plan would be perfect for my family. I have three girls living at home and two of them are ADHD. My 8 year old goes to school so sometimes her behavior interferes with her learning. Rather than medicate her I have found that removing all artifical flavors and colors from her diet helps imporve her behavior and helps her focus. This meal plan is perfect because it uses all natural ingridents, which can help me when shopping because I won't have to read as many labels as normal. Not to mention that eating out for us is not a fun adventure because of the junk that is put into the food, within minutes my kids are going crazy because of the food that they eat. Eating at home is hard because you have to plan out every meal, but it is so worth the reward. NOt to mention how much better all of us feel, myself and husband inlcuded.

I'm a working mom who prides myself in the fact that I "cook" every night. (We just can't afford the fast food/take out bills) But sometimes "cooking" means putting a frozen lasagna in the oven when I'm too tired to do anything else. I try to serve fresh food but usually that consists of a salad which gets old after a while.
I would love new ideas for serving my family fresh ingredients!

Liked you on Facebook, and also Fresh 20 too! This would be awesome, I have a 4 and 6 year old, and work full time, hubby is in school f/t after being laid off earlier this year. I have multiple sclerosis and am trying hard to eat fresher, more healthy meals but I lack planning skills and recipe ideas, so this would totally rock! I am tired of getting to 5:30 and thinking OK what on earth are we going to have tonight! Leads to poor choices. Thanks so much for posting this contest. lesleyreid@gmail.com

Thank you so much for creating this amazing Fresh 20. I am a stay at home mom with a 3 year old boy who is a very picky eatter. Do i will be honest, I have always been afraid to use the stove and oven but since having my son i have started to make more meals. There are times when yes, going out to eat or ordering in is soooo much easier. Running around after him and keeping him entertained all day is a lot of work and then to create a full meal that is healthy for entire family is not easy. - thanks for creating and putting your own time and effort into this program :)

I think this is great. This would vastly improve my family's lives, and I am not exaggerating. I have one daughter who has celiac disease and the rest of us want to eat healthy and lose weight as well. We recently moved to a new community and our new goal to improve our lives is to eat healthy and eat home rather than out. This would help my family of 6 greatly.

I am a working mom of three busy kids. I find ourselves often reaching for the easy.. not necessarily the healthy. I get stuck in the unfortunate habit of cooking the same old things. Just can't seem to put together a weekly menu that is cohesive, easy, healthy and doesnt require large shopping trips. I struggle with my weight and see one of my daughters developing some bad eating habits. We are also in severe budget cutting mode.. which also often leads to cheap, convenience foods. This would REALLY be so helpful to get all five of us on the right track by helping us save money, time and our health! rene.eiland@gmail.com
