My 2010 Purge

We entered 2011 clean & organized ... I am so proud (o:

The day after Christmas I started a major house purge!
I went through every closet, every cabinet & every drawer.

I purged!

But, doing so made me realize that I have some {slight} hording problems.

For example, I totally horde magazines! I save magazines because I find articles I really want to read, recipes I really want to try & crafts I really want to make!

I bend a corner or two & then stash the magazine away.
I have great intentions, but I rarely follow through.

I just don't want to part with my magazines!

Seriously, what if this look comes back???

or

What if I decide I want to make this yummy looking cat litter cake for Superdad's birthday?

this is an actual cake

I made a compromise.
I went through each & every magazine & I ripped & ripped & ripped, until I had a huge pile. I ripped out anything that caught my eye.

Then I organized them.

I put recipes in sheet protectors & I am keeping them in my coupon/shopping binder.

Now when I work on my shopping list & menu for the week, I have new recipes to try at my fingertips! Hopefully these new recipes will get me over my cooking slump & inspire me (o:

And once I try a recipe, I can make changes or throw it away.

I made files for the rest of the ripped out articles & filed them in my file box.

They might never be looked at or read, but at least they take up a fraction of the space.

Tonight on the dinner menu is a recipe for black bean burgers that I found in one of my magazines. I will let you know how they turn out (o:

I have to admit that I am a magazine hoarder myself. I have magazine that date bafck to 1996 because they are "collector's editions". I need to go through and purge some of my stuff. Organizing the articles is a great idea.
